Family visits and running around

Inspection of the flat tire

The last couple of days have been a whirlwind and after not going to bed before midnight for a couple of days I gave in and was not typing blog posts for NaBloPoMo. I am writing this on my phone in the back of our trusted minivan. My BIL and SIL arrived and now we are on our way down the coast. They already got the full on Northern California winter experience with non stop rain for a whole day. Yesterday was sunny though and we took a ferry Ride to San Francisco. The day started out with a surprise flat tire. Luckily we were right around the corner from a tire shop and they fixed it in 20 minutes so we actually made said ferry in time. Good that I am always on the early side.

In my opinion taking the ferry is the absolute best way to travel to the city. I was surprised how many Holiday decorations were already up.

Now I have to spend some time researching our first stop along the way. Can you tell yet I am not quite up to speed? Usually I have that planned out ahead of time. Stay tuned for more road trip reports to come.

  1. I have to agree with you about ferry trips. We have two different ferries here, in Quebec City, and I love taking them both. As for decorations? They started going up in our local area all last week. And here, in our building too. I guess everyone needs some colour in their lives right now.

    1. Ferries for the win?
I sure do need some color in my life. It’s fun to see all the decorations up and I sure enjoy them, I am just a little thrown off my inner calendar and have to remind myself that I still have time until Christmas.

  2. Ferry trips are fun. But I never went on a car by myself. Only with my parents back in the day. We have a ferry that crosses the river just 500 meters from us. It is regular lunch walk down there for me.

Flat tire sucks. At least you git help. Our garage sent us away earlier this month.

    1. It’s only a passenger ferry but we needed the car to get there. The idea was to take a walk around the harbour beforehand but that did not happen because of the flat. We were so lucky to get it fixed so quickly and for only $20! I already saw myself spending the whole day on it.

  3. I would’ve given up on NaBloPoMo too if I were traveling or even had to write and edit on my phone. But the most important is to enjoy your this space, right, and sometimes we must simply realise that we can’t do it all. You did good though.

The trip sounds exciting to me, so yes, I will await your reports. Eagerly.

    take care & enjoy!

  4. I’ve never tried blogging on my phone, that sounds like it might be frustrating. You get extra credit for sure! I’m trying to remember whether I’ve ever taken the ferry to San Francisco or not. I know I’ve taken it to Angel Island, and once to Alcatraz, but not to the Ferry Building. Nope, I’m remembering now, I have! It’s been awhile. I love the ferry though, you’re right, it’s a great way to go. I have a friend who lives in Alameda and works in SF near Civic Center, and she likes to take the ferry and then BART or Muni. Such a civilized way to start the day. (My computer doesn’t think Alameda is a word, wants me to change it to Edamame. HA!)

    1. From Alameda it makes so much sense to take the ferry.
I am always surprised which words get auto corrected. I have sent quite a few confusing messages because of it. I hope I am not replying to comments with too many auto corrects.

  5. I’ve also never tried blogging on my phone. I have a hard enough time doing it on my laptop sometimes!

I sounds like an amazing trip. That’s incredible luck that you got a flat tire right near a tire shop! I can’t wait to hear more about this.
