Birthday Saturday

We always start birthdays with cake for breakfast. This year I even had two cakes (it was actually three total but one we already had at work a day previously). After getting the cake from my colleagues another co-worker stopped by the lab and what do you think – with another cake. Since everyone was already filled up on cake I took the second one home and my family gave me one, too. So lots of cake all around.

Most of the rest of the day was spent as usual but we did go out for dinner followed by the musical play “The Matchbox Magic Flute”. I thought it was great! I wished for it and had the condition that no-one complained. It turned out it would not have been necessary since everyone liked it. Maybe that is something we can do more often together as a family. With everyone having different interests it’s sometimes hard to find something everyone likes.

  1. Oh, belated happy birthday to you. It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. And I would loved to have listened to the Magic Flute with you. It sounds delightful. And those cakes look amazing! Again, happy birthday!

  2. Happy belated birthday, Meike, and welcome to the 50s, a great decade ! I’m glad that your family enjoyed the show with you – I love live shows/ theatre and my daughter is up for it, but the boys in the family, not so much ;).

  3. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I see the commenter above already said it, but get ready for a great decade (50s is a good one!) Starting the day with cake is perfect.

  4. Happy belated birthday my friend. I didn’t realize it was the big 5-0 coming up… but I am sure it’ll be a fantastic new decade. We’re not getting older, we’re getting better (at life and living it! :)) I am glad you had such a great birthday!

  5. Happy Birthday. I have heard nothing by good things about being 50.

I love the idea of starting a birthday-day with cake. I’ve never done that, but am not opposed to trying it next year.

    Also, that cake is stunning!

Experiences are the gift that keeps on giving and I love that the only place they take up any space is in our memory bank. Most of us have too much clutter as it is, so I’m 100% thrilled by experiential gifts.
