Just a quick fall check-in

Fall leaves

Today really felt like fall in these parts. It rained this morning – like real rain and not just some drops. This always feels huge in California! I love how the trees start changing color and that it gets dark earlier. It somehow seems cozy.

It was so nice to have an extra day off work today. I put it to good use and wrapped my daughter’s birthday presents, some X-mas gifts for family and the kids advent calendar (48 packages total + the other gifts). I still have my friends calendar but was done with wrapping for today. I read a bit, crafted some more, made lunch, did laundry, cut my son’s hair (just the split ends as he was horrified enough to let go of any hair) and had some other chores needing attendance.

All in all a very productive day.

Did you have the day off and did you do something fun?

  1. You wrapped 48 gifts???????????? I’m always astonished at how long wrapping takes. It sounds like a really nice day. I did not have the day off, sigh! But I have Wednesday off and I’m looking forward to it.

  2. You wrapped how many gifts? Meike, you are seriously organised! I haven’t even thought about buying anything for Christmas, yet. Let alone wrapped anything.

Up here Fall is nearly over, and the trees are mostly bare. It won’t be long before we have our first snowfall, so I envy you still having leaves on your trees.

    1. There are some trees with leaves all year round and the “winter” season is definitely shorter over here. I envy you the snow.
I am only so organized since we have family visiting the Thanksgiving week and December starts right after. The year feels almost over.

  3. Those advent calendars sound so fun and personalized – but WOW. That’s a lot of wrapping.

It was a day off for us in Canada, too. Remembrance Day. My son had two playdates, and my daughter had a friend come over for the afternoon and early evening. I did some Christmas wrapping as well – just a few stocking things I had on hand. I felt a bit aimless all day, to be honest. My husband is out of town, it was rainy and overcast and I just felt Blah. Today is much better! The kids are back to school, I have a schedule all planned for the day and I have crossed so many things off my to-do list in the last hour!

    1. My husband did not have the day off. He was already wondering on Sunday why I was so relaxed until he realized I had one more day off. Even the kids did not plan anything and it was super laid back. I really needed that.
I am glad I got the wrapping out of the way. In past years I had to stay up late and now it’s already done.

  4. My husband had the day off but my daughter and I both worked. My daughter usually cooks on Mondays, but she has a cold so I made dinner (tomato soup and grilled cheese, in honor of the morning rain, YAY!) We watched the last episode of My Brilliant Friend on HBO. Just a Monday I guess. 🙂

I’ve bought a few gifts, including most of the ones that I am going to need to mail. But wow, you’re next level!

  5. That does sound like a very productive day… and yes, I loved the rain too… although my first thought was “I am so glad it rained today and not yesterday during my race”! I used the rain as an excuse to do NOTHING (as in, sleep in, stay in my PJ’s, read blogs and read.)
