One thing I learned over the years is that keeping my hands busy is relaxing me more than any yoga session could do. Since I need to concentrate on what my hands are doing my mind stops running in circles. So election night resulted in this finished Santa hat. It was not worn around school as of yet but I have seen it around the house quite a bit and it brings a smile to my face when I do. Someone on Instagram asked the other day what kind of glimmers we encounter on any given day. I had not heard the term glimmer before but noticing these small, perfect moments that make us feel good really spoke to me. So seeing the Santa hat worn each day is one of these glimmers for me.

When I got home today I also got my Cricut out and made gift tags for the three Advent calendars I am planning to make. It’s so useful. I would not have chosen to cut out the numbers by hand. IT would have taken me forever. This way I just pull up the program on my computer and let the machine do the cutting for me. It’s so satisfying to watch. The white houses are vinyl stickers and pealing out the windows was a little tricky but I am sure it gets easier with time, too. Don’t they look pretty? I don’t have all the little presents together yet, but when they are, they will get all wrapped up and each gets its own number.
I also want to try out to make an iron on for a t-shirt this weekend. We will see if I get to it. I kind of want to go to the holiday kick-off at a local shopping district. They have a very pretty light display on I can use some more glimmers in my life.
What about you? Do you have any weekend plans? Any glimmers you came across recently?
Wow you made that hat fast! It looks great! I bet you had lots of need to keep your hands busy and your mind occupied elsewhere this week. Whew what a dozy.
Thank you for all the comments on my blog. I love your bio pick. A great shot of the Golden Gate. I went to school in Berkeley and love it there. Crazy weβre so close to each other. π

Yep, it’s a small world. There are a couple others around these parts, too.
I am doing crafting therapy right now. The hat was a super quick project. It’s really thick yarn what helps a lot.

I have heard the word glimmers before and love it. Such a fun thing to look for the positive things in our life. I was pondering it making it my word of the year but opted for shape as it was speaking to me in more areas of life.
The Santa hat is cute. Looks like your kid is happy having it.

A couple weeks ago I had an inkling of what it could be. The longer I do this practice the clearer the new word appears. I am working on a blog post β for the past 3 years and maybe this November I will be able to publish it. Very not sure though…

I am still not sure it would be something I would do but I am fascinated about your process

Oh, I really like the idea of “glimmer” moments. I wonder how many we feel through out the day, but don’t really notice? For me, writing is the way I do mental yoga. Word choice is my sewing/knitting and brings me quite joy creating something someone might read one day.

That is beautiful. I can’t decide on one single thing I like best so I do a little of everything.

I love this- yes, we have to look for glimmers. That hat is so, so cute, and it looks like your advent calendars are going to be amazing as well. I can see how keeping your hands busy would calm your mind. Maybe that’s why so many people like to knit. Sadly, I never learned how.

There is now YouTube for everything – it’s never too late! I love knitting but in California it does not always make sense. I am not sure when I will wear my knitted pullover for the first time.

Knitting really calms me as well. I should get out my knitting again (haven’t knitted in a few months!). Thanks for the reminder… and great job on that Santa hat π
