I have to say I was a little sad when I put away the Halloween decorations. Part of it is the neighborhood. I always liked Halloween just fine but the neighborhood we live in now is infectious. There are a couple of houses around the corner from us which are insane. The pictures don’t do it justice. After the kids were on their way I took a short walk up the street myself to just soak in the atmosphere. It really made me want to rethink our plans for the coming year. Maybe a shoot that drops the candy down from our porch? One reason why we don’t get as many trick-or-treaters is that there are quite a few steps up to our house. I should rope in the kids and their friends.

At work we had a lab meeting on Halloween and decided to do a group picture dressed up as characters from the Minions movie. I made myself a distinct nose on a whim and went as Gru. Since I don’t have hair it was easy enough with painted on eyebrows, a black jacket, a scarf and black training pants. Husband went as a crow to work since they always have a Halloween thing and the kids were a wizard and Marissa from the video game Hollow Knight. So the weeks leading up to the day I spend sewing a wizard cape and making butterfly wings. If you ever wonder why some of the wings on Etsy cost so much money I can explain a thing or two about that now.

The not so good thing was that I had a migraine on the day, but it helped with the grumpy Gru look. The morning went ok. I went home early spending some time sleeping off the side effects of my migraine medication. In the evening I felt better luckily.
Do you celebrate Halloween where you live? Did you dress up? How do you feel about the holiday?
Boo for the migraine. Always coming at a time we are looking forward to or are busy, right. It sucks. Glad you had the chance to sleep of some of it and then felt better.
Love that you went as Gru. Sounds funny.
It looks like a theme park in your neighborhood.
Personally I am not a Halloween fan. You may even call me Halloween Grinch. I closed the blinders, sat in the dark and hoped no-one would ring the doorbell. They did. Too many times.

Oh, sorry, they still rang the doorbell even though everything was dark. At least here they will honor that. It was a zoo but a fun one. I tell you, it’s contagious. Curious ro see where it’s going in Ermany. Sounds like it started in the past couple of years and gets more and more (at least that is what my family says).

Your neighborhood sounds like so much fun for Halloween. A shoot that drops candy is a great, fun idea for next year. I also loved that you dressed up for work.
I participated in our Halloween Chili-Cook Off at work but did not dress up to join the costume contest. LOL

Your Halloween neighborhood pictures are also very fun. This holiday is something I would really miss in Germany. My nieces are always jealous when we send the pictures.

I love Halloween and also get sad when it’s over. I love how people get really weird and creative with their decorations. I also love this whole season, and I don’t like it when one of the holidays is done.
I don’t dress up, but I do decorate the house and of course hand out candy! My daughter did dress up and went to a party, and also went trick or treating. Fun night!

The one good thing about Halloween being done is that all the other fun holidays are a little closer. I cheated a little and left one string of lights up. Nothing wrong with some fairy lights in my opinion.

I love it so much! We are going to put our decorations away tomorrow and it’s making me sad already just to think about it. Oh, well. There’s always next year!

My neighborhood inspired me to come up with some good idea for next year. There is this German saying that “Looking forward to something is the best joy there is”…

I have a witch costume in my closet that I can throw on if I have to, but generally I don’t dress up anymore. We don’t get trick or treaters, but I always panic and buy some candy. Your neighborhood looks FUN on Halloween, and I would at least go out and immerse myself if I lived there.

It is really fun. I do have a couple of costumes lying around, too, but in the evening I did not dress up this year either. Onto the holiday lights now.
