I made a list and I never make lists. That should probably tell you something. Most weeks are pretty regular weeks so that I have the pick up, drop offs and chores internalized where I don’t need a list. Well, this week I do.
We are going to spend Thanksgiving with our friends again. That means we will be leaving on Saturday. That also means I need to pack for at least half of the family.
My daughter’s birthday is happening during that time as well so I already wrapped up her presents and packed those up. At least one thing done.
I do need to put our CO2 cartridges in the mail and time it, so that the return does not come while we are away.
I do want to cancel the mail but am holding off, because someone still might get sick. Covid has me very paranoid. Most of us had it at least ones. My son had it the first day of the president’s day week last year and on the first day of school after summer break this year. I had it last year on our Vegas trip and we came home early – so that is that. The only holdout is my husband and I should better find some wood to knock on.
Laundry needs to be folded and another load started and finished before we head off.
I do need to book a hotel for one night on the way. Driving takes 9 hours and we do like to take a break in between.
I am still debating if we should get a rental car for our trip to Germany for Christmas. We could take the train but that would also mean that we need to rely on other’s to pick us up and drive us to train stations. With four it may be a tiny bit cheaper to take the train but not a whole lot. The car would be more flexible. I am just not sure yet. During the summer we booked one with AAA but for some reason this time around they are more expensive compared to Costco. Why does it always have to change? That would save me the research.
I do want to get started on Christmas presents. Maybe I get to do some shopping while we stay with out friends? Preferably before Black Friday. I don’t get that day and I don’t think I would buy anything that would give me a good deal on it. In all likelihood I would just end up buying something I don’t need.
I already have the feeling I am forgetting something… See, I really need that list. It is going to live on the dining room table until we close the door behind us on Saturday.

I’m definitely a list maker, it helps me get things out of my head so I don’t have to worry about forgetting them. It sounds like you will have a busy time this week, but hopefully Thanksgiving week will be relaxing!
Train tickets for 4 is kind of expensive, I think I would rent a car, and enjoy the freedom. Oh, Germany for Christmas! How exciting!

Wow sounds like lots is going on.
I am definitely a list make. Specially when it is a lot to juggle then I make a brain dump list and write it all out. It helps me to cluster the tasks and then it doesn’t look too much.
Regarding your trip to Germany and renting a car. I’d say it depends where you need to go, how often and how far. Trains could be rather full on the holidays so it’s not really enjoyable. Also they just announced new strikes so I assume they will fall into Christmas traveling time.
I think Deutsche Bahn offers a car rental service. This might be an option.

Ca r rental is covered woohoo. There are a couple memberships I have with good options. For the 4 of us it’s going to be cheaper and more comfortable. Strike, how fun, especially during school break.

I’m also not a list maker, but I’m making multiple lists this week! This time of year is so much more complicated. We’re not traveling, but my son is coming home so I have to get his room ready and get all his favorite foods, plus I have Thanksgiving to think about! I haven’t started Christmas preparations at all. i never shop on Black Friday- i think it used to be a bigger day, but now there are deals all the time till Christmas. Good luck with everything!

You must be happy that your son will be there for Thanksgiving. I can’t even imagine one of my kids only coming to visit. Good luck with the juggling to you as well

Whoa, that IS a lot to keep track of. I completely agree about Black Friday – I’m Canadian, and it’s just started showing up here the last few years, which is just embarrassing. Anything I have ever ended up buying is usually something I don’t need, except one year I got an awesome price on a good curling iron I still use, and when my son used to ask for video games I got some for twenty dollars off.
Husband just had his second go-round with Covid, which axed Thanksgiving (Canadian) with my parents. I just got my new shot, so hopefully Christmas will be okay.

Thank you, yes, Covid still messes things up but at least it is better understood now. I am always a little anxious to make travel plans. Hope your husband’s case was not too bad.

We’re taking an early Thanksgiving trip this weekend and I’ll be working on Black Friday (blergh)…. but maybe I can do some online shopping in the evening (and get some of my Christmas gifts squared away).
I am definitely a list maker.
