The picture is misleading. I don’t mean to say I inherited the contents of all the shelfs (I could have since the contents mostly will be cleared out by the time my dad moves out). What I want to talk about is a different thought of inheritance.
My husband always complains that I don’t express myself clearly enough and assume a lot of knowledge. So here is a conversation I had with my dad today:
“Dad, where is the painters tape.”
My dad replies: “It’s on the shelf in the basement.”
Above are mostly all the shelves in the basement. I found it, but I think I understand now what my husband is talking about.
Do you have habits you picked up from your parents?
My father was a stubborn man who held grudges. He once didn’t talk to his own sister for over fifteen years over some stupid squabble. I…tend to be like him. There are businesses I will never go to again after they way they behaved/operated during the pandemic. But I also recognize this about myself and try to do what I can to let go of personal grudges. *sigh* Why can’t we just have taken the best qualities from both our parents instead of the worst?!

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could pick what you get? At least you recognize it and then you can work on it if you want to (it’s hard work, I know). The other way around you can’t really pick what your kids inherit from you either – it’s always a surprise.

We do this with a local farmer’s market – they were rude to us twice and there are two other options in town so we have never gone back in 10+ years.

HaHa this so funny. It’s in the shelf. Well it is nt wrong just very unprecise. Could have been my dad…
The husband sometimes is very confused because he doesn’t get what I am saying and I am getting mad because he doesn’t get. Well I often don’t say it just assume it is all clear.
The this we inherit. Sigh.

Your husband should talk to my husband – sounds like they have at least one thing in common π

Interesting observation. My Dad has the habit of sticking out his tongue when he’s concentrating on something. I am afraid I have the same habit LOL

Haha, my son does this, too and so does my father in law. I think it’s really cute.

I’m laughing that it was ‘on the shelf’. HA! I’m not sure what I have inherited, I will have to think about that.

I find it tricky to walk and eat at the same time – for instance – I cannot eat an ice-cream and then walk without it melting all over me. My Mom said I definitely got this from my Dad – we eat best when we are sitting down!

I find that tricky, too. I am always worried I could run into something.
